The Trump family arrived in India on Monday, warmly greeted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his home state of Ahmedabad, with the president and prime minister exchanging a hug amid a festive celebration.
The group motored through Modi’s hometown, en route to Motera Stadium, the world’s largest cricket stadium, with a capacity of over 110,000. Along the road, they were greeted by crowds of supporters.
Both Trump and Modi enjoy large crowds, and they arrived to a stadium packed to capacity with more than 100,000 guests.
Both the president and the prime minister delivered remarks to the cheering crowd, highlighting the friendship between the nations. The two countries have experienced some trade tensions and it is expected that this trip could open up dialogue for a new trade agreement.
The First Family capped off their day with a sunset visit to the Taj Mahal and a visit to the historic home of Mahatma Gandhi.
The First Lady gained praise from fashion experts, clad in a Hervé Pierre jumpsuit for her visit to the nation.
The president is expected to visit India for two days.
