Former FBI Director James Comey announced an endorsement of Joe Biden on social media today, but was met with a cold reception from the campaign, which rejected the support in response.

Campaign manager Andrew Bates swiftly and sarcastically turned down the support, likening it to an unwanted and unsolicited package in the mail.

Comey was dismissed in May 2017 by President Donald Trump surrounding his handling of the FBI’s investigation of Hillary Clinton and its investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential elections, a move which drew criticism of Trump at the time. Following his dismissal, Comey became a vocal critic of Trump, but now it seems the Biden campaign isn’t interested in his support due to his association with the 2016 elections.
